Memorial Groves

Situated in the historic Camp Logan, a former World War I training ground for soldiers, Memorial Groves is a project dedicated to preserving history and fostering education. The building encompasses the design of new offices for the Memorial Park Conservancy staff and a new visitors center. Both buildings will be under one shared roof with an open breezeway in between. The Visitors Center will function as an educational facility, providing comprehensive information about the park's historical significance and honoring those who trained there. Particular emphasis will be placed on the all black 24th Regiment, their role in safeguarding the camp, the tragedies of the 1917 Houston uprising, and the injustice that followed.
